At Beauty & Brawn, we really do believe that kiddos should have a say in their own creativity. We employ a multi-disciplinary teaching and learning approach, in which young artists are free to explore various mediums, and to create work in a supportive and relaxed environment and at their own pace.
Our child-centered and socially conscious classes and camps encourage both independent and group thinking and reasoning, experimental and collaborative work and mixed-age mentorship. Beauty & Brawn provides unique opportunities for children to examine the communities around them through our wonderful field trips and neighborhood expeditions, and by fostering positive relationships with their neighbors and peers.
Our classes and camps include: Mixed media work, photography, theater, music exploration, dance/hip hop, painting, comicing, bookmaking, yoga/meditation, claywork, screenprinting, drawing, beading, mobile making, daily outdoor playtime (weather permitting) field trips, community art making, visits from guest artists and so much more!
Past adventures include: The MCA, Chintatown on the water taxi, The Air & Water Show, a backstage tour of The Logan Theatre, French Art & Food Tour to La Creperie/Lincoln Park, The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, The Cultural Center, The Wabash Arts Corridor, The Harold Washington Library, The Adler Planetarium, The Lincoln Park Zoo and The National Museum of Mexican Art.
